Booking/Payment

How do I book?

Due to an increased demand for places this year we are using Eventbrite to make bookings and payments easier. Please follow the link to our booking page.

ALL CHILDREN WILL NEED TO BOOK A PLACE IN ADVANCE – WE ARE NOT ABLE TO OFFER PLACES ON THE DAY.

Do you offer discounts for Pupil Premium?

If you in receipt of pupil premium there is a 50% reduction in cost. Please email mocks@aimkent.org.uk to book you place if you think you qualify for this discount.

We can't now make the date we have booked. Can I cancel?

Our standard terms are that we do not accept cancellations. However, please contact us by email to mocks@aimkent.org.uk if you need to cancel.

Test Day

What time does the test start?

The test will start promtly at 2.30pm. We ask that you arrive and register your child by 2.15pm so that we can start on time. If you arrive after the test has started, we may not be able to allow your child to take that paper. However they will be able to join the test for the remaining papers.

What does my child need to bring?

Please bring a water bottle, filled with water only. There is no need to bring stationery items, as we will provide everything that they need including  paper, pencils and rubbers.  It might be helpful to wear a watch to keep an eye on timings but we do have a wall clock so it’s not essential.  Children may bring a small mascot/comforter/toy to sit on their desk if they wish.  Please do not bring mobile phones, smart watches or gadgets. Any valuables brought will be at your own risk, and AIM cannot be respobsible for any personal items.

What does the test include?

The test is what you will expect in the real 11 plus paper. The test has been written exclusively for AIM by The Right Tuition Company. There are four sections of 40 minutes with a 15-minute break in the middle. We will start with English and Maths, have a break and then do VR and NVR.

Do I bring snacks?

We will provide a large selection of fresh fruit (usually totally ignored) and a selection of brownies and biscuits. Water and squash are also available throughout the session. You can of course bring your own snacks if you prefer but please no nuts.

Parking

There will be no parking on site at The Skinners' School but there is plenty of street parking available and a car park almost opposite in John Street. This is Pay and Display £0.40 for 2 hrs and £1.30 for 3 hrs. 30 minutes free.

Do I need to stay with my child?

Parents are encouraged to leave their children and return at 5pm. There are plenty of coffee shops nearby, the town centre is a 10-minute walk and St Johns Recreation Ground is a 5-minute walk. There will be AIM volunteers on site who are DBS checked and first aid trained. We will also have some volunteer invigilators.  Please let us know in advance if you think that being left with the AIM team will be difficult for your child.

Children with Special Educational Needs and/or Anxiety/Mental Health Issues.

We will try our very best to enable all children to sit this test. If you have a child who might struggle to manage in the main hall and requires additional support or the exam adapted then please get in touch beforehand.

Most children will be feeling a little anxious so we have plenty of staff to offer reassurance. The Banana Studio who specialise in teen yoga and mindfulness will teach a 5minute relaxation session at the beginning of the exam to help the children relax.

Results

When will I receive my child's results?

Results will be emailed within 7-10 days to the email you provided at the time you booked. There will be a percentage score for all 4 parts of the exam (Maths, English, VR and NVR) and an overall score.

Can I get my child's answers?

We are able to send your child’s papers to you by post but ask you bring a Stamped Addressed Envelope (A4 size)  on the day of you would like us to do this.

The test question paper remain the copyright of AIM and The Right Tuition Company, and we ask that you do not share the paper with anyone else.  AIM is a registered charity. All proceeds from our Mock 11+ tests will help fund our programme for 2021.
